Farm Suicides
ASHA recognises that farm suicides are a complex phenomenon, and have to be tackled by a multitude of approaches being put into place in the policy environment as well as grassroots practices of farming and living. ASHA’s engagement on this subject has covered reactions to annual official data put out by NCRB, submissions in a Supreme Court PIL and seeking compensation and rehabilitation for farm-suicide affected families. Reduction of risk in agriculture is a key approach to reduction in this phenomenon.
