Agri Digitisation in India

ASHA believes that digital technologies in agriculture are inevitable, and actually hold a great potential (both negative and positive) in impacting farm livelihoods. As Government of India moves into MoUs with various tech and agri-business giants, we find that there is no data privacy legislation in place, nor any solid policy. The Government is on the other hand saying that the MoUs which are about proofs of concept in various sub-themes, will lead to a policy being made. ASHA is engaging with the government along with several other organisations, in this emerging domain. Farmer-centrism and care not to exacerbate ground level invisibilities, inequities and inequalities through agri-digitisation is one of our main thrusts.
