ASHA looks at Organic Markets as a re-imagined fair market for agriculture itself. Here, the market space is shaped by empowered farmers and consumers, who understand that Farmers need to be provided an equal space for determining their prices, for protecting their own dignity in the market space, for collectivising themselves wherever needed and possible and for being rid of rigged regimes whether it is imposition of uniformity standards, unhealthy processing and packaging or prices that are unfair. Organic markets cannot be a replication of an unfair market, except for the replacement of the chemically produced product with the organically-produced one. No, for us in ASHA, organic markets are an opportunity to reshape many things about the market spaces.
