FPOs

In the latest scaling up scheme of the Government, a lot of importance is being put on FPOs or Farmer Producer Organisations. However, ASHA suspects that in the imagination of the government, FPOs are essentially aggregators for big businesses. Whereas for ASHA and several others, FPOs are a medium for farmer empowerment, for autonomy and for collective bargaining power to be realised. For big corporate power to be thwarted from our food systems.
